Do I have to live in the home to receive the grant in Queensland?

Yes. First home owner grants are for owner occupiers, so at least one buyer must move in and live there as their main home for a continuous period, generally starting within 12 months of settlement or completion.

Why this matters

This is a condition, not a suggestion. If you intend to rent the property out you will not be eligible. The exact occupancy period is set by the Queensland Revenue Office, so confirm it if your circumstances are unusual, for example a work posting.
