Editorial and Compliance Policy
Our goal is to be the most accurate, genuinely useful home-loan resource in Australia. This policy explains how our content is produced, reviewed, and kept current.
Who writes and reviews our content
Because home loans are a subject where the stakes for your money and your life are high, we hold our content to a high standard. Content is written and reviewed by Ross McFarlane, a licensed mortgage broker (Credit Representative 526725, MFAA member) with hands-on experience arranging home loans for Australian buyers. Guidance reflects real lender policy and current legislation at the time of review, not just theory.
Our articles provide general information only. They do not take into account your personal objectives, financial situation, or needs, and are not a recommendation to enter any particular loan. Your circumstances are unique, so always seek tailored advice before acting.
Sources and fact-checking
We base our figures on primary sources, including Housing Australia, the ATO, ASIC, state revenue offices, APRA, and individual lenders, and we link to them where practical so you can verify the detail yourself. Rates, caps, grants, and scheme rules change frequently, so we treat every figure as something to check against its source rather than assume.
Keeping content current
Each page carries a last updated date. When a scheme, rate, or rule changes materially, we update the affected pages and re-date them. If you spot something that looks out of date, please tell us so we can check it.
Corrections and independence
Found an error? Email ross@howtohomeloan.com.au and we will review and correct it promptly. Our editorial recommendations are independent and are not influenced by lender commissions or commercial relationships.
